So Many Ways to Chill
Banff & Jasper National Parks, Alberta
Experience the wonders and magic of winter on a much grander scale--where wildlife, canyons, glistening glaciers, awesome powder, quaint villages, and the spirit of exhilaration abound.

Take a Powder

Downhill ski or snowboard at Marmot Basin, home to 3,000 vertical feet of awesome, dry, light snow. Afterwards head for a soothing soak in hot, 100% natural spring water. Later snuggle up on a horse-drawn sleigh ride along the frozen Bow River, through snow-draped forests and past spectacular mountain views.

Take a Walk

Snowshoe through the mountains—you may even spot a moose, caribou, bull elk, big horn sheep or wolf. Head to town for a latte and lunch. Check out the quaint shops and boutiques. End your day with a guided moonlight walk across the frozen floor of the Maligne Canyon.

Mix It Up

Cross country ski on untracked, backcountry trails or mountaineering routes. Take a gondola ride to the mountain tops. Hike the Cottonwood Creek Loop or the Old Fort Point/Athabasca River trail. Go skating on Pyramid Lake or Lac Beauvert. Take a drive past the mysterious disappearing Medicine Lake.

If you have one week...

Take a guided drive down the Icefields Parkway. Explore rugged mountain terrain and experience stunning views of the Rockies on a multi-day snowmobile tour. Embark on a scenic rail ride through the mountains. Or rent a chalet for a few days and breathe in the awesome majesty that surrounds you.
