Do what the locals do
Vancouver, British Columbia
This spectacular city is a sophisticated environment sitting on the edge of nature. Whatever you love to do, you'll be able to do it here.

Catch the Olympic spirit in the host city

Walk the seawalls of False Creek or Stanley Park and wander through the shops and markets of Granville Island. Walk across the Capilano Suspension Bridge and ride the gondola to the top of Grouse Mountain to look down on the city below.

Beaches, forests, and museums

Relax on the beaches of Spanish Banks and Jericho. Go for a walk in the cool forests of Pacific Spirit Park. Learn about the ancient cultures of the Northwest Coast First Nations at the newly expanded Museum of Anthropology at UBC.

Daytrip to Steveston and the ocean

Take a trip to the historic fishing village of Steveston on the mouth of the Fraser River. Walk along the restored waterfront, soak in the history in the museums. Then dine on fresh local seafood, or go out on a whale-watching trip in the Gulf of Georgia.

If you have one week...

Get away on a white water rafting trip and laugh and shout down through the rapids. Camp overnight by the river and dine by the light of a campfire. Rent a boat for the day and go salmon fishing in Howe Sound or cruise around through the islands.
